Last Word

Gin, Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur, Green Chartreuse, Lime

The Last Word was created in 1916 at the Detroit Men’s Club and was their most expensive drink at $0.35 each. Frank Fogherty, a traveling stand-up comedian, acquired the recipe as he stopped through Detroit that year, and transported it back to New York City where it became popular and published.

A good Last Word reflects the green in its ingredients - the bottle of Luxardo, green chartreuse, lime juice, the herbs used to create gin...lots of green. You start with a herbaceous gin then turn it up to 11. Perfect for sipping as an aperitif or hanging out on the back porch enjoying the sunset.
